Accomodation
Situated in the Rhine valley and framed by hills, vineyards, and picturesque river landscapes, the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef offers a tranquil and distinguished environment for academic meetings.
The historic building, formerly a home economics school and later a residence for the elderly, now serves as the headquarters of the German Physical Society (DPG).
The facility includes a spacious lecture hall with seating for over 80 participants, as well as a pub in the basement that provides an inviting setting for collegial exchange after the day’s program.
On-site lodging
Teachers and participants are accommodated on-site. Participants are therefore asked to indicate a preferred roommate during the application process, as only a limited number of single rooms is available. Shared accommodation (double rooms) is an integral part of the school’s concept, designed to increase networking, collaboration, and exchange among peers. The costs of lodging are included in the overall school fees.Note: On the departure day, the rooms have to be left vacant at 9:00 a.m. Luggage can be safely stored at the Physikzentrum for the rest of the day.
Further lodging options for a longer stay
The regular arrival dates are the first day of the plasma school, while the regular departure day is at the end of the Master Class. If you would like to arrive earlier or stay longer, please take care of a hotel room on your own.The Hotel Avendi and the Hotel Seminaris are within walking distance.
Catering
The overall school fees cover a full-board catering; during the school you will receive three meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, mostly served as a buffet. Besides the regular meals, there will be coffee breaks between the lectures, where tea, coffee, and water is provided. On the registration for the plasma school, a small meal will be provided until 9 pm.
Special dietary requirements (halal, vegetarian, vegan, allergies) can be arranged for participants who indicate these preferences during the application process.
Note: For any drinks beyond coffee, tea and water, the participants have to pay by themselves.
